McLouth Services for James A. Petrie, 61, McLouth, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McLouth United Methodist Church. Burial will be at McLouth Cemetery.

Mr. Petrie died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in a Kansas City, Mo., hospital.

He was born July 26, 1939, in rural McLouth, the son of Daniel C. and Mildred M. (Means) Petrie. He graduated from McLouth High School in 1957.

A farmer in the McLouth area throughout his life, Mr. Petrie also worked as a machine maintenance specialist at Hallmark Co. He retired in 1996.

He was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church and National Antique Tractor Pullers Assn. He was a five-year member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and a 12-year member of the McLouth school board.

He married Phyllis J. Murr on June 28, 1963, at McLouth. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Bill and Gene, both of McLouth, and Rick, Manhattan; three sisters, Lucille Smith, Topeka, Betty J. Petrie, Shawnee, and Mary A. Petrie, Overland Park; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday

The family suggests memorials to the Scholarship Fund of McLouth High School or McLouth United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
