Saberhagen to start in rehab assignment

Boston Boston Red Sox right-hander Bret Saberhagen will make a rehabilitation start for the team's Double-A affiliate in Trenton, N.J., today.

Saberhagen, 37, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, has not pitched in the major leagues since he went 10-6 with a 2.95 ERA for the Red Sox in 1999. He had surgery to repair the rotator cuff in his right shoulder last season, and experienced shoulder discomfort at the end of spring training.

Twins' Guzman on DL with shoulder injury

Milwaukee The Minnesota Twins put All-Star shortstop Cristian Guzman on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with an inflamed right shoulder.

Guzman, who had an MRI exam Friday night and was re-examined Saturday, is hitting .308 with a major league-leading 13 triples. He was removed after batting in the sixth inning of Thursday's 13-5 victory over the Brewers.

He returned to Minneapolis on Friday.
