An eight-run fourth inning by Silver Lake in Game Two spoiled the Lawrence Outlaws' bid for a baseball sweep on Wednesday at Ice Field.
The Outlaws won the opener, 13-6, before falling in the nightcap, 16-8.
In the first game, the Outlaws exploded for five runs in the third. Philip Champion reached on a single and advanced to second after Josh Winter was hit by a pitch. Paul Houle singled to load the bases.
Casey Rahmeier knocked in the Outlaws' first run in the inning.
The Outlaws scored two in the fifth and six in the sixth.
Champion finished the doubleheader with three hits and two RBIs.
"He really enjoys being out here playing," Outlaws coach Ryan Callaway said. "Phil does not strike out very often. He finds a way to make contact."
The Outlaws opened the second game with four runs in the bottom of the first. Silver Lake rallied in the second, scoring six runs, including a grand slam by Brian Martinek.
After the Outlaws scored four more in the second inning, Silver Lake pulled away with eight runs in the fourth.
"All of our players really try hard," Callaway said. "You'll see them get frustrated when they get out, and that shows that they really have a lot of heart. They like to play."
Houle caught most of the Outlaws' doubleheader against Silver Lake. He relieved John Maynard midway through Silver Lake's big fourth.
"The bases were loaded when I got up there," Houle said. "It was a tough situation and I hoped I would have done better."
Winter and Tyler Wingbaugh doubled for Lawrence in the first game.
In the second game, Tyler Inzer tripled for the Outlaws, who had seven hits.
