Aquatic center hours changed for swim meet

Some areas of the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will be restricted from Friday through Sunday.

The areas will be used for the Roger Hill Swim Meet, which will bring 650 swimmers to Lawrence from across the state.

While the meet is in the competitive pool, the leisure pool will be open for public swimming.

Indoor lap swimming will be limited to the three 25-yard lanes in the family pool beginning at noon Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Outdoor lap swimming will be available at the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, 747 Kentucky, from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The leisure pool will have the following hours:

Lap lanes, family pool only, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Zero depth and children's area, 1 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Waterslide, 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dunkin Donuts robbed

A man carrying a pistol in the waistband of his pants early Wednesday robbed Dunkin Donuts, 521 W. 23rd St., Lawrence Police said.

The suspect, said to be a white man in his 20s, entered the store about 12:45 a.m., approached the cashier and raised his shirt, revealing the pistol, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Pattrick said.

The robber demanded money and the employee complied, turning over cash register money, Pattrick said. The amount stolen is undetermined, Pattrick said.

The suspect fled on foot toward the northwest, police were told.

The robber was about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed about 160 pounds, police were told.

LMH offers massage class

In an effort to reduce stress and tension, Lawrence Memorial Hospital will offer a massage class for couples from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. Couples will be taught how to reduce stress and tension through massage.

Massage techniques for the head, back, arms and legs will be taught.
