An accident involving a semi-tractor trailer and several cars on Interstate 70 west of Lawrence slowed westbound commuter traffic to a crawl Wednesday morning.
Traffic was backed up for a mile for those heading west of Lawrence on the turnpike following the accident, which occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities said the semi, which was heading east on I-70, backed up traffic near the Lecompton interchange after landing on the median that splits the east and west lanes.
Turnpike officials say the semi was involved in the accident with several passenger cars. There were several minor injuries, authorities said.
However, they had no other details this morning as to the cause of the accident.
