Mrs. King died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Brandon Woods Retirement Center.
She was born July 19, 1902, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Albert R. and Mary Theresa (Kennard) Kennedy.
She graduated from Kansas University in 1925 with a double major in history and English. She lived in Stuttgart, Ark., and Memphis, Tenn., before returning to Lawrence in 1988. She was president of Southwest Unitarian Women's Alliance, Memphis. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
She married Ralph M. King Sept. 10, 1927, in Lawrence. He died July 25, 1989.
Survivors include a son, Ralph M. King Jr., Lawrence; a brother, Ted Kennedy, Lawrence; a sister, Jane Van Hoy, Pittsburg; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
