Fluoridation slated

Leavenworth will begin adding fluoride to its water by March 2003 with the help of a $215,500 start-up grant from the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund.

The addition will provide the recommended amount of fluoride proven to prevent tooth decay.

Annual costs will amount to 70 cents per person $31,500.

The water fluoridation will affect 44,750 customers.

The grant is part of the Health Ministry Fund's Healthy Teeth for Kansas campaign.
