Oskaloosa Services for Vernon Eugene Tullis, 88, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Leavenworth.

Mr. Tullis died Friday, July 6, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Lenexa, the son of James Robert and Dora (Hein) Tullis. He was a farmer in the McLouth area for many years. He retired in 1987 and moved to Topeka. He was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Topeka, and Leavenworth County Farm Bureau.

He married Emily Ruth Decker on May 25, 1942, in Perry. She died on Sept. 19, 1989.

Survivors include a son, Charles, McLouth; three daughters, Sheila Hodges and Nancy Steffan, both of Topeka, and Barbara Hutchinson, Davie, Fla.; two brothers, John and Robert, both of McLouth; a sister, Stella Luce, McLouth; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Oskaloosa.

The family suggests memorials to Oakland Church of the Nazarene, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
