A major road construction project in Baldwin continues to make advances.
Although Sixth Street is still closed, the Douglas County Public Works Department said Tuesday that the intersections of High Street and Dearborn Street are both open to cross traffic. Now, however, the intersection of Dearborn and Sixth streets will be closed.
The county and city of Baldwin are splitting the cost of the $950,000 project, which is expected to be completed in October.
There are detours posted both north and south of town for County Road 1055, which turns into Sixth Street in the city limits.
