Cleveland Second baseman Carlos Febles, in the midst of a 7-for-40 slump, was optioned to Triple-A Omaha by the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Infielder Luis Ordaz, who had been at Omaha on a rehabilitation assignment, was activated from the 15-day disabled list to replace Febles.
Febles, in his third season as the Royals' starting second baseman, hit .200 in 25 games this year. He had been sidelined with a torn ligament in his right knee from April 19 to June 8.
Ordaz hit .286 in 19 games for the Royals before going on the disabled list May 18 with a strained quadriceps. He hit .353 in 34 at-bats during his rehab assignment at Omaha.
