Moundridge duo wins Bass Anglers tourney
Vern Canada and Darran Canada of Moundridge caught four bass that weighed 10.03 pounds and won the Kansas Bass Anglers Association tournament last Saturday at Wilson Lake.
David Bond and John Eklund, both of Salina, caught two bass that weighed 7.74 pounds to finish second. Bond and Eklund also caught the tourney's big bass (4.52 pounds).
Kenneth Manis and sons Dustin and Brandon, from Topeka, finished second in the Panfish Division at the Like Father, Like Son National Fishing Circuit's Grand National Championship Tournament last weekend in Nashville, Tenn.
Hoyt, Topeka men walleye meet champs
Craig Athon of Topeka and Daren Jenson of Hoyt combined to win last Sunday's Kansas Walleye Association tourney at Marion Lake. They caught eight fish that weighed 26.8 pounds.
Wichitans Brad Gorsuch and Staci Gorsuch were runners-up with eight fish weighing 23.8 pounds. Kent Dodds of Andover and John Lindsay of Wichita nabbed the largest walleye a 7.3-pounder.
Pratt Wildlife and Parks is offering a number of resident deer permits that may be purchased without going through a drawing. These permits will be available Aug. 1. They include whitetail antlerless only permit ($30.50) and whitetail antlerless only deer game tags ($10.50). Hunters may purchase one whitetail antlerless only deer permit and as many as four whitetail antlerless only deer game tags.
Tom Vankiersvilck of Gardner and Paul Vannieuwenhuyse of Shawnee teamed to catch two bass that weighed 8.36 pounds and won the Wednesday Night Bass Anglers tournament on June 20 at Hillsdale Lake. Brad Close of Drexel, Mo., and Chris Close of Louisburg were second and caught the biggest bass (6.12 pounds).
Brown, Lynch win
Matt Brown and Dan Lynch won the Lawrence Fishing & Outdoor Club tournament last Sunday at Clinton Lake. The fishing was poor due to the high murky water.
