Mr. Jackson died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Ozark Country Home, Chanute.
He was born March 27, 1906, in Ridge, the son of Jesse L. and Ella L. (Houke) Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a farmer and stockman, and was a charter member of Woodson County Soil Conservation Services. He was a member of Woodson County Farm Bureau board, a former member of Maple Grove school board, a former 4-H club member and a leader and long-time member of Maple Grove Methodist Church. He had won the Century Farm Recognition Kansas Bankers Award for soil conservation.
He married Julia Alice Bennett on Feb. 1, 1933, in Clarksdale, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Dwight, Lawrence; three daughters, Eunice Trichler, Johannesburg, South Africa; Ellen Jackson, Yates Center; and Helen Eisele, Fredonia; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Doreene Pringle, and a grandchild died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Woodson County 4-H clubs, sent in care of the funeral home.
