Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control agents were on the prowl in Lawrence last weekend, issuing 36 citations in connection with underage drinking.
Thirty-five people were busted in Manhattan the previous weekend for a total of 71 citations, all issued to people between the ages of 17 to 24 years old.
The operations in both cities took place to enforce underage drinking laws and to ensure liquor licensees were complying with state liquor laws. In both cities, agents made stops at bars and worked with local liquor stores to arrest minors attempting to buy alcohol with their "Cops-in-Shops" program.
In Lawrence, 28 people were cited for being in possession of alcoholic liquor. Six were cited for furnishing alcohol to minors and two for using false identification.
Additionally, five licensees were issued administrative citations for various liquor law violations.
