KU signee honored

Danielle McHenry, a Kansas University signee from Shawnee Heights, has been named the Gatorade Kansas High School Volleyball Player of the Year. McHenry, who has a 3.52 grade point average, had 364 kills and 55 blocks for the Thunderbirds last season.

FSHS adds coaches

Free State High has filled three coaching vacancies for the spring season. Former Lawrence High and Kansas University football standout Jason Thoren has been named the new sophomore baseball coach. Also Southwest's Terry Droge and Cordley Elementary's Randy Fyler have been hired as softball assistants. Matt Windle was promoted from sophomore softball coach to junior varsity coach.

Haskell women fall

Charlotte Salabiye scored 28 points and Cassie Kelly added 13 points, but Haskell Indian Nations University fell to Bartlesville Wesleyan, 59-50, in women's college basketball Tuesday night at Coffin Complex. Haskell (2-10) will entertain McPherson Central on Saturday.
