Services for George Hinkle Ryan, 90, Austin, Tex., will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Lawrence.
Mr. Ryan died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1910, in Beatrice, Neb., the son of Florence M. and Noah M. Ryan. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Mo., and University of Nebraska. He moved to Austin, Tex., in 1998.
Mr. Ryan had been a broker for Black Brothers Milling Co., Beatrice, Neb., and worked for Beatrice, Neb., State Bank. In 1950, he joined Exchange National Bank, Atchison, as vice president, and was named senior vice president of Lawrence National Bank in 1962. He retired in 1975 and joined the Calvin, Eddy and Kappelman real estate firm.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Lawrence Rotary Club. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow for distinguished civic service by Rotary International in 1998. He was also instrumental in fund-raising efforts for Lawrence Arts Council and First Presbyterian Church.
He married Elizabeth Jane Blanke on Oct. 19, 1935. She died in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Robert, Austin, Tex., and Richard, New York City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A reception will follow services at the church.
