Rutledge services

Memorial services for Walter L. Rutledge, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Old Mission United Methodist Church, Fairway. Cremation has taken place and private inurnment will be Wednesday in McGehee (Ark.) Cemetery.

Mr. Rutledge died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Monroe, La., the son of Walter J. and Mary Elizabeth (McMullen) Rutledge. He moved to Lawrence in August 2000 from Prairie Village.

Mr. Rutledge served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an auditor for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for 33 years. He retired in 1982.

He married Marie L. Jeanneret on Jan. 13, 1946, in McGehee, Ark. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Rutledge, Lawrence; and three sisters, Ethel Thomas, North Little Rock, Ark., Omera Selman, Little Rock, Ark., and Dorothy Ramsey, Hoover, Ala.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice Care, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
