Burglaries and thefts reported
A 50-year-old Lawrence resident reported the theft of medical supplies and equipment valued at $2,500 from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Indiana Street. The theft occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday.
A 43-year-old Lawrence resident reported the theft of a 1993 white Chevrolet Corsica between 2 p.m. Wednesday and 4:15 p.m. Friday from the 1000 block of East 23rd Street. The car was valued at $2,000.
Police reported that two Lawrence women stole checks from an elderly acquaintance and wrote a number of them around town. Police are holding one woman, 19, at the Douglas County Jail on a charge of forgery. Her bond has been set at $18,000. The other woman, 21, is being held on an aiding-and-abetting charge. Her bond has been set at $6,000.
