Burlington Apparently Free State High's wrestling team just needed a change of scenery.
Coming off two lopsided losses in a home double dual, the Firebirds finished third in the 14-team Burlington Tournament on Saturday with 141 points.
Free State was led by first-place finishes from Anthony White (pinned Coffeyville's Bobby Tracy at 125 pounds), Justin Stevens (beat Gabe Wunderlich of West Elk, 3-2, at 189) and Ian B(pinned Sean Price II from Cherryvale at 215).
"Ian B I don't think he was on the mat more than two minutes the whole day. He just pinned his way through," FSHS coach Darrell Andrew said. "Anthony White did a good job today for his first high school tournament championship.
"We recovered real well after the beating we took in our home dual. We worked real hard in practice the next two days, did well today and hopefully got things going in the right direction."
