A man featured in Lawrence's November Crime Stoppers Most Wanted was arrested during the weekend after police found him hiding under a pile of clothes.
Ahmad Austin, 20, was found after police developed information while investigating a beating incident involving the suspect's girlfriend, Lawrence Police Det. Dave Anderson said.
Austin is being held in the Douglas County Jail on $2,500 bond after being charged Tuesday with one count of domestic battery.
Austin was being sought by police for failing to appear in court on another charge of possession of cocaine. That search led to him being one of two suspects featured in Crime Stoppers during November.
Police learned that a woman was beaten in a domestic dispute Friday at a residence in the 2000 block of Mitchell Road. On Saturday they traced Austin to an apartment in the 2400 block of Alabama Street, Anderson said. When officers were allowed inside they conducted a search and found the suspect under the clothes. He offered no resistance, Anderson said.
Anyone with information about the suspects are asked to call 843-8477. Callers are eligible for a cash reward and can remain anonymous.
