Quinter Services for Lynn Wylie, 80, Quinter, were Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter. Burial was in Quinter Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post No. 164, Quinter.

Mr. Wylie died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Gove County Medical Center Long-Term Care, Quinter.

He was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Quinter, the son of Samuel Oliver and Margaret (Mann) Wylie. He graduated from Quinter High School in 1938 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Fort Hays State University in 1950. He moved to Quinter in 1960 from Brush, Colo.

Mr. Wylie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been administrator of Gove County Hospital. He retired in 1979 and raised quarter horses.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 164 and United Methodist Church, both of Quinter.

He married Irene Gackstatter on Jan. 20, 1949, in Wichita. They later divorced.

Survivors include a son, John, Quinter; a daughter, Linda Everett, Baldwin; a sister, Annabelle Stafford, Huntington Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to Gove County Medical Center or Alzheimers Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home, 901 S. Main St., Quinter 67752.
