Stiles, SMS beat Braves

— Jackie Stiles, the nation's top scorer, had 31 points in leading No. 15 Southwest Missouri State past Bradley, 81-55, on Friday night.

Stiles moved past Cheryl Miller and Chamique Holdsclaw into third place on the NCAA career scoring list with 3,040 points.

The Bears (19-4, 13-1 Missouri Valley), who entered the game tied with Drake for the league lead, trailed 19-14 but used a 26-10 run for a 40-29 halftime lead. The Braves (8-13, 3-10) were outscored 18-4 to start the second half.

Sara Bailey's 21 points and seven rebounds led Bradley.

The Bears got 12 points and eight rebounds from Tara Mitchem. Stiles was 12-of-13 from the foul line as SW Missouri made 30-of-33 of their free throws.

No. 12 Xavier 63, St. Joseph's 50

Cincinnati Taru Tuukkanen had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Xavier scored 12 straight points on free throws in the final two minutes to beat St. Joseph's. Jennifer Phillips added 12 points on 6-for-6 shooting for Xavier (22-2, 12-1 Atlantic 10). Amy Waugh, who missed the Musketeers' first 19 games with an Achilles' tendon injury, had 10 points.

Susan Moran had 24 points and 11 rebounds for St. Joseph's.
