Ottawa Funeral Mass for Martin F. Bauer, 86, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa.
Mr. Bauer died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born March 21, 1914, in Sharon, the son of George Aloysius and Christina L. (Gangler) Bauer. He moved to Ottawa in 1991 from Garden City.
Mr. Bauer was a truck driver most of his life, and had started his own trucking business hauling grain in 1968. He retired in 1982. He had previously driven for several different companies, including Ray Reed Oil Co., Greeley, Colo., and Sunrise Oil Co., Pueblo, Colo. He hauled aviation fuel during World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa.
He married Mabel Leota Meyer on Sept. 9, 1940, in Sharon. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Virginia Sullentrup, Washington, Mo., Darlene Smith and Lois Bauer, both of Lawrence, and Eileen Jewell, Dodge City; a son, Kenneth Bauer, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a sister, Laura Aufleger, Sharon; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, and from 5 p.m. today to service hour Saturday at the church. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the church, where the family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m.
