A Pomona woman Friday was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of a man with whom she lived.
Sharon Marie Ferrell will be sentenced on March 9. She remained in the Franklin County Jail on $50,000 bond following the trial.
William M. Coulter was found Aug. 25 by Franklin County Sheriff's officers lying on the ground outside the mobile home he and Ferrell shared, authorities said.
Ferrell claimed she killed Coulter in self-defense.
The Kansas Attorney General's Office had sought a harsher verdict of second-degree murder. Assistant Atty. Gen. Joe Lee handled the case at the request of the Franklin County Attorney's Office.
