killed in Sunday night wreck
Sunday night's fatal traffic accident at Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive remains under investigation, a Lawrence Police spokesman said Thursday.
The two-vehicle collision killed Shyra McGee, 23, Lawrence, who was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, John McGee. John McGee and a second passenger in the car, Amber Sellers, were injured and hospitalized earlier this week. They have since been released.
The McGee vehicle was struck by another vehicle driven by Brandon Gentry, 30, Lawrence. Gentry also was briefly hospitalized.
Memorial services for Shyra McGee, Wichita, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union. Services in Wichita will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bibleway Community of Faith, 2105 N. Jackson. Maps are available at the Jayhawker Towers office, 1603 W. 15th St.
Shyra McGee was a resident assistant at Stouffer Place at Kansas University. A memorial fund in her name has been established at First State Bank & Trust, 609 Vt., Lawrence 66044. It will be used to pay medical and burial expenses. Excess funds will be used to establish a scholarship in McGee's name.
