The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, sponsored by the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp. and Kansas University, begins this week.
VITA is a volunteer program coordinated by ECKAN and KU to help low-income, limited income, elderly and disabled people free of charge with their income taxes, food sales tax and homestead applications.
The program, which will begin this week, will run according to this schedule:
l 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at Resident Services, 1600 Haskell No. 169, and Salvation Army, 946 N.H., and Thursdays at Ballard Community Center, 708 Elm.
l 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays at Penn House, 1035 Pa.
l After 2:30 p.m. Mondays at KU School of Law.
