A Perry man was arrested by Lawrence Police early Sunday after leading officers on a chase through the center of Lawrence.
John Quinlan, 21, was booked into the Douglas County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and attempting to elude police officers, jail records showed.
Quinlan was caught by officers after a short foot chase in southeast Lawrence, Sgt. Mike Pattrick said.
A police pursuit began about 2:30 a.m. when an officer attempted to stop a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck Quinlan allegedly was driving in the 200 block of West Sixth Street, Pattrick said. The driver refused to stop.
At Sixth and Massachusetts streets, Pattrick said, the truck struck a street sign. In the 2100 block of Massachusetts, the truck ran through a yard and over a small tree, Pattrick said.
The pursuit continued until the truck became stuck in the ditch between the 800 and 900 blocks of East 23rd Street.
A short foot chase ensued before the suspect was captured, Pattrick said. The man was taken by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, then taken to the Douglas County Jail.
Quinlan was later released on $1,350 bond with orders to appear Jan. 9 in Lawrence Municipal Court.
