The Lawrence City Commission gave preliminary approval to the issuance of $5.25 million in industrial revenue bonds for expansion at TRW Inc.'s Crescent Wire and Cable Division Operation here.

IN 1961

Lawrence proudly exceeded its United Fund goal of $58,000 by more than $6,000 in the final countdown.

IN 1901

On Dec. 9, 1901, the Lawrence Journal observed, "General Wood thinks Cuba ought to be annexed. So do a large majority of the people of this country, but it is one of those delicate cases like a woman getting married; you can't do it until the other party proposes."
