The Betty Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Nov. 17 at First Baptist Church in Lawrence.
Darlene Slapar, chaplain, had memorial services for Florence Waldo Walter, Charlene Van Middlesworth Mattix, Ruth Kennedy King, Maureen Ward Mills and Helen Harshberger Dolbier.
Fay Talley spoke on veterans in nursing homes. Anyone who knows a veteran with a story they would like to share should contact a DAR member to record it.
Wilma Baruth gave the national defense moment about what is happening to the country and how it compares with what happened at the time of the American Revolution.
Hilde Farley spoke on Indian Moments. She talked about the pottery made by Brian Farley's Full Moon Pottery Shop. Farley plans to attend a DAR meeting.
The flag moment was given by Margaret Wulfkuhle, flag chair, on Betsy Ross and where American flags are made today.
Fay Talley and Hilda Farley attended the genealogy meeting given by Paul Jordan. They reported that he is looking for volunteers to help index the film at the Lawrence Public Library.
Phyllis Bell gave a membership report and spoke on how to get ancestor lineage verified.
The next meeting will be at noon Dec. 15 at the Plum Tree Restaurant, 2620 Iowa. Members should make reservations and turn in veteran stories to Annie Merriam by calling 841-1384. The meeting topic will be recycling.
