— The long trip to northwestern Kansas was worth it for Ottawa High's boys basketball team.

The Cyclones set a Topside Tipoff Tournament scoring record, rolling to a 107-62 victory over Burlington, Colo., on Thursday.

Chris Hermreck (26 points), Eric Hull (24) and Ross Thompson (23) all scored more than 20 points for OHS, which improved to 1-1.

"Burlington just won a state football title the Saturday of Thanksgiving, and they've had hardly any practice time," OHS coach David Grover, whose squad scored more than 100 points for the first time in his 10 years at the school.

Ottawa's Thompson was a force on the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds.

The Cyclones shot 54 percent from the field (39-for-72) with 11 three-pointers. Hull had 11 three-pointers.

Ottawa will play today at 5 p.m. against McCook, Neb., a three-time defending state champion. McCook reached the semifinals with an 83-47 victory over Morrill, Neb.
