McGautha found guilty of attempted second-degree murder

After four hours of deliberation, guilty was the verdict handed down Friday afternoon in the trial of 19-year-old John McGautha.

McGautha was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm. Prosecutors were seeking attempted first-degree murder charges in the June 17, 2000, shooting of Allen Toshavik in eastern Lawrence.
