Janitor held for murder of pregnant woman

December 7, 2001

— A Lincoln County judge ordered a 50-year-old bowling alley janitor held on $100,000 bond Thursday in the slashing death of an 8 1/2-month pregnant woman.

He faces first-degree murder and felony weapon use charges for the death of 40-year-old Vickie Soto, who had her throat slashed and both legs cut off below the knee.

Soto's husband, Arthur, found her body at about 9 p.m. Sunday lying face down on the living room floor.

The discovery of Soto's body came too late to save the couple's unborn child, due Dec. 16.
