Student injured in motorcycle accident near KU campus

A 19-year-old Kansas University student was seriously injured Thursday morning in a motorcycle accident on Naismith Drive just south of KU's campus.

The student, Aaron Reed, of Larned, Kan., was transported by Life Star helicopter to Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., where he was listed in serious condition.

Lawrence police said he was knocked unconscious when they found him about 8:20 a.m. near the intersection of 19th Street and Naismith Drive. He regained consciousness before he was transported by helicopter.

Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
