— Amanda Levens had 18 of her 28 points off three-pointers to lead Arizona State to a 73-52 women's college basketball victory over Kansas on Wednesday night.

The Sun Devils (7-2) slowly pulled away from the Jayhawks (3-5) in the second half, to 57-42 with 11:23 to go, ending their run with a layup and two free throws by Jen Albert. Albert had a career-high 10 points off the bench for Arizona State.

"I don't think they are a 20-point better ballclub," KU coach Marian Washington said. "So many things broke down."

Kansas battled back to trail by 10 points, 59-49, with 8:43 to go after a pair of free throws by Selena Scott. Scott paced Kansas with 14 points.

Arizona State went on a 14-3 run to end the game by the final victory margin.

Kansas shot 7-of-22 from the free throw line and 39.3 percent from the field. Arizona State outrebounded the Jayhawks 42-31.

"hen you are 7-22 at line ... we work on them," Washington said. "It's a matter of everybody taking their time and knocking those down."

Carrie Buckner finished with a career-high 10 points for Arizona State, while Blair Waltz had 13 points and KC Hilgenkamp finished with 12 for Kansas.

Kansas was ahead for most of the first half until Arizona State took a two-point lead into halftime, 35-33, when Buckner hit a last-second baseline jumper.

"We played a fine ballclub slated to win the Pac-10," Washington said. "I was proud of our performance the first half. We didn't bring it to the second half."

The Jayhawks will entertain Weber State at 1:05 p.m. Saturday.
