— A Franklin County jury this morning will continue deliberations in the case of a Johnson County man accused of murder and attempted murder.

The jury of six men and six women began weighing a verdict about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday after closing arguments in the trial of Raymond Fuller, 24.

Fuller is one of two Johnson County men charged in the Nov. 1, 2000, beating death of Vivian Johnson, 85, rural Ottawa. He also is charged with beating and severely injuring her husband, Howard Johnson, then 84. Howard Johnson survived. The third charge against Fuller is aggravated burglary.

The second suspect, Joseph Hayden, 18, faces the same charges and will be tried starting Tuesday.

The jury recessed at 5 p.m. Wednesday without reaching a decision in Fuller's case.

Franklin County Atty. John Dowell and Assistant Atty. Gen. John Bork are prosecuting the case. Bork is assisting Dowell with the case.
