Manhattan Free State High's swim team placed first, while Lawrence High tied Manhattan for second at the closely-contested Manhattan triangular on Wednesday.
The Firebirds totaled 164 points while the other two squads had 158.
Free State winners included David Adams (200 free, 500 free) and Chris Wolff, (100 fly, 100 back). LHS winners included John Armstrong (50 free, 100 free) and Nick Leet (one meter diving). LHS also won the 400 free relay.
"The guys were so excited about winning," FSHS coach Annette McDonald said. "It was a great day, a real team effort. Some of our new guys got to swim and score points in a triangular meet. They got to contribute to the team which I thought was important."
FSHS will swim Saturday at Olathe South. Both squads will swim Monday at Shawnee Mission East.
