Mangino withdraws from Kansas search

December 1, 2001

— Oklahoma offensive coordinator Mark Mangino is withdrawing from Kansas' search for a head coach.

Mangino said Saturday he is flattered Kansas was interested in him, but that he doesn't want to be considered.

"At this time, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the position," he said in a statement.

Mangino has been on the Oklahoma staff since 1999. He was last season's winner of the Frank Broyles Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top assistant coach.
