Coats is the son of Luanne Coats, Lawrence, and Jim Coats, Alba, Tex. He is a 1998 Lawrence High School graduate.



Renegade Streak, a sorrel stallion owned by Lowell and Tyler Stewart of Lawrence, was a top 10 finalist in weanling stallions at the 2001 American Quarter Horse Assn. World Championship Show Nov. 3-17 in Oklahoma City, Okla.



Cameron McGown, Tonganoxie, is treasurer of the Kansas Gamma chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Kansas State University. The engineering honor society chapter received the Chapter Performance Scholarship Program award for the fourth consecutive year.

The program gives a $500 scholarship to chapters receiving the award more than two years in a row.



Christina J. Goff, Lawrence, will celebrate her 90th birthday as guest of honor at an open house from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St.

Goff was born Dec. 9, 1911, in DeQueen, Ark. She and Raymond J. Goff were married for 46 years before his death in 1977. Their children are Wayne and Jeanette Luallin, Ken and Virginia Parrish, and Raymond and Marsha Goff.

She is an avid gardener, and has made personalized quilts for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is a lifelong member of the Church of God.

She requests no gifts but would enjoy cards.



Chalene Skinner and John Soley, both of Baldwin, announce the birth of their daughter, Amber Lynn Louis Skinner, Nov. 15, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.



Darcy Berger and Jeremiah Wallace, both of Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Laney Mae Wallace, Nov. 17, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.



Amanda and Nicholas Wells, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Benjamin Miles Wells, Nov. 17, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.



Karla and Tim Dalton, St. Louis, announce the birth of their son, John Timothy Dalton, Oct. 15, 2001, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis.

Maternal grandparents are John and Charleen Helgesen, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are Forrest and Jan Dalton, St. Louis.

Great-grandparents are Myrtle Helgesen, Grand Forks, N.D., and Fred and Arlene Kleine, Marshall, Minn.



Sylvia Thurber celebrated her 85th birthday with her family at a brunch Nov. 18 at Hereford House in Lawrence.

Those who attended were Sharon Thurber, Yakima, Wash.; Stan and Alice Thurber, Houston; Stuart and Sue Martin, Omaha, Neb.; and Steve and Peggy Smith, Randi Smith, J.R. and Julia Downs, Nicole Downs, Brandan Downs, and Walt and Pat Martin, all of Overbrook.



Friends and family of Betty Mole are invited to attend her 80th birthday celebration from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St.

Hostesses are Georgia Mole Smith and Nancy Mole Hempen. The guest of honor requests no gifts.
