A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fall River Methodist Church in Fall River.

Mr. Hime died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Fall River, the son of Norman C. and Bessie A. (Shinkle) Hime. He graduated in 1954 from Fall River High School.

Mr. Hime worked for Peter Kewit Corp., List and Clark, CMI Corp. and NR Hamm Quarries/Construction. He also worked at Reuter Organ Co. and in maintenance at Lawrence Athletic Club.

He was a member of Masonic Petroleum Lodge No. 474 in Tulsa, Okla. He served as a trustee at Mission Lake Christian Camp in Horton and as president and baseball coach for the Perry Athletic Assn. He was active in the Perry-Lecompton and Eudora booster clubs.

Mr. Hime was a member of Christ Community Church, and was a deacon and elder several years at Perry Christian Church

He married Sharon Eaton in 1955 in Fredonia. They later divorced. He married Jeanie Thoma on April 4, 1980. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Darrell, Eudora, and Grant Evan Hardesty, San Francisco; three daughters, Sharlyn Marie Fulks, Ottawa, and Leah Jean Hime and Deborah Lynn Hime, both of Eudora; his mother, Bessie Hime, Fall River; two brothers, Evert, Idabel, Okla., and Jerry, Derby; two sisters, Norma Gay Jones, Fall River, and Marilyn Kay Deveney, Huntsville, Tex.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call 5 p.m.-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to the ALS clinic at Kansas University Medical Center, Keith Worthington Chapter of ALS Assn. or to Hospice Care in Douglas County. Memorials may be sent care of the funeral home.
