Magic donates computers

August 5, 2001

— Magic Johnson has teamed with Hewlett-Packard to bring computers to the inner-city.

The Magic Johnson and HP Inventor Center opened its doors this weekend at a housing project in south Los Angeles. The center is part of a three-year, $1 million project that will include computer centers to housing projects in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

"So many people take computer technology for granted because it's such a major part of our society, but imagine not having access to computers," said Johnson, the former NBA great and founder of the Magic Johnson Foundation.
