General tickets go on sale at Ottawa venue

Ottawa General ticket sales for Ottawa Municipal Auditorium's 2001-2002 season begin Monday and run through Aug. 24.

Country singer Joe Diffie kicks off the season Sept. 14. Individual ticket sales for his concert will begin Sept. 27.

The Main Event Series includes Mickey Rooney, his wife, Jan Chamberlain Rooney, and three others musicians doing comedy routines, singing songs and showing clips from his movies, Oct. 13; "Carl Sandburg's Prairie," by the Prairie Wind Dancers, Jan. 26; and Doug Talley Quartet, April 6.

The USA series includes Ray Price, Nov. 3, and "The Grand Ladies of the Grand Ole Opry," featuring Jean Shepard, Jan Howard and Jeannie Seely, Feb. 23.

Tickets, which range from $17.25 to $45, are available by calling (785) 242-8810 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays. More information is available at www.grapevine.net/~omalive.

Lawrence piano student to give recital

Lawrence piano student Tristan Moody will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kansas University's Swarthout Recital Hall in Murphy Hall.

The program, "An Evening with Gershwin," will include a duet by Moody and his piano instructor, Alice Downs.
