An attempted beer truck robbery has Douglas County sheriff's deputies searching for suspects.

About 1 p.m. Wednesday, two people wearing ski masks and driving in a black pickup truck began tailgating the driver of a Classic Eagle Distributor van traveling to Lawrence from Leavenworth on U.S. Highway 24-40, the driver said.

After several miles, the men in the pickup fired a shot at the beer van, the driver said.

The pickup truck then turned east on Kansas Highway 32.

Law enforcement officers are looking for a black pickup, possibly a half-ton Ford F-150.

If you have any information, contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Department or call the TIPS Hotline at 843-TIPS (8477).
