Budget to be published
Douglas County commissioners Monday approved publication of a $38.9 million budget for 2002.
The levy is expected to increase from 24.6 mills to 27.886 mills last year. A mill is $1 in property tax for every $1,000 in assessed valuation.
A public hearing for the budget will take place Aug. 15.
Board members OK'd
County commissioners approved the reappointments of six members to the Lawrence-Douglas County Economic Development Board.
Reappointed to three-year terms: Paul Bahnmaier, president of Lecompton Historical Society; Larry Paine, Baldwin city administrator; Keith Folkmann, director of operations for Sauer-Danfoss Company; Jim Martin, president of M-PACT Worldwide Management Co., Eudora; Jean Milstead, former planning commission chairman; and Pat Kedhe, owner, Raven Bookstore.
The advisory board oversees economic development activities of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and advises the city and county commissions.
