A rural Ottawa man was killed late Friday in a two-vehicle accident in northeast Franklin County.
Stephen Price, 46, was killed in the accident at Tennessee Road and the off-ramp for southbound traffic from Interstate 35.
Price had just exited I-35 and was westbound crossing Tennessee Road about 10:40 p.m. when his 1990 Chevrolet Camaro was struck by a southbound 1997 Ford Ranger pickup, according to a press release issued by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.
The pickup's driver, 16-year-old Matthew Rossi of rural Ottawa, and two 16-year-old passengers -- Angela Runnells of rural Rantoul and Crystal Vagenas of Wellsville -- were transported by ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. They were treated and released.
Sgt. Steve Lunger said evidence at the scene indicated alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. He declined to elaborate on what role it may have played.
