A Lawrence man was arrested on suspicion of methamphetamine manufacturing after a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy noticed an odor of ether emanating from the man's vehicle.
The 33-year-old suspect was arrested for methamphetamine manufacture, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. He had been in the parking lot of Wells Overlook Park, 1373 N. 1000 Road, when a deputy on patrol noticed the man closing his trunk, authorities said.
The deputy drove nearby and saw a marijuana pipe on the vehicle's bumper and also noticed a strong smell of ether coming from the vehicle. The deputy looked inside the vehicle and saw additional paraphernalia in the back seat, authorities said.
The suspect has been released from the Douglas County Jail. No charges had been filed on Thursday.
