suspended for threats
Three elementary students at Broken Arrow School have been suspended for making verbal threats, the school's principal said Wednesday.
Principal Larry Bakerink said a first-grader was suspended for a half-day, while a fourth-grader and a sixth-grader were suspended for three days each. Two threats occurred Monday. The other happened May 18.
In a letter sent home with students, the principal urged parents to discuss with children consequences of threatening people at school.
"I think Broken Arrow is a safe place for kids to be," Bakerink said. "I don't think in any of these instances anyone was in danger."
The action at Broken Arrow continues a series of suspensions and expulsions at district schools this spring for threatening behavior.
