His duties include providing pastoral care for patients, their families and LMH staff. He also serves as a link between LMH and the clergy in the community.
Polk serves on the LMH Bioethics Committee and the Palliative Care Team. He takes part in Little Angels, a support group for parents who have experienced the loss of a baby or fetus.
Polk has 15 years of pastoral experience in churches in Hoboken, N.J., and in the Kansas City metropolitan area. He completed clinical pastoral education at Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
Polk has a bachelor's degree from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis.; a master's degree from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminar, St. Paul, Minn.; and a doctorate from the Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago.
