Big 12 women golf

Kansas University's Christi Wagenaar, a junior from South Africa, and Kim Lorenz, a soph from Omaha, Neb., have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 tennis team.

Second-team berths went to KU's Monica Sekulov, a senior from Australia; Quentin Blakeney, a junior from Charlotte, N.C.; and Rodrigo Echagaray, a junior from Mexico.

Both KU teams will compete in league tournaments starting Thursday in Waco, Texas. The KU men have been seeded fourth and the women seventh.

KU's Steinbock honored

Kansas University's Courtney Steinbock, a freshman from Lubbock, Texas, has been named Big 12 women's tennis player of the week. Steinbock (22-15) went unbeaten in three matches last week.

McLouth player commits

Robert Smith, a 6-foot-4 senior forward from McLouth, has committed to play basketball at MidAmerica Nazarene U. in Olathe.
