Chicago Dorinda Kearns von Tersch, a former Lawrence High volleyball and basketball standout, has been named head volleyball coach at the University of Chicago.
"I could not be more delighted with Dorinda von Tersch's appointment," said University of Chicago athletics director Tom Weingartner. "She brings to the position considerable skills and experience with a similar program, academic setting, and student profile."
Von Tersch was head coach at Colgate from 1998-2000. She guided Colgate to one Patriot League championship and a pair of second-place finishes, while compiling a 23-9 mark in conference play.
A setter for Oklahoma University from 1984-87, von Tersch received a bachelor's degree in religious studies from Dayton University in 1990. She also earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from Kansas University in 1995.
