Iowa City, Iowa Kansas University's women's golf team is in ninth place after carding a 36-hole score of 629 strokes on Saturday's first day of the Hawkeye Invitational.
KU shot a 316 Saturday morning and 313 in the afternoon on the par-73 Finkbine Golf Course.
Sarah Mahoney led the Jayhawks and is tied for 21st-place with 154, while Ashely Bishop and sophomore Tiffany Kruggel are tied for 31st at 158. Jennifer Bawanan is tied for 35th at 159 and Heather Rose sits in 42nd-place at 161.
Michigan leads the team race with 601 strokes.
