Arts priority

April 15, 2001

To the editor:

The Carnegie Library Building will be vacated soon by the Lawrence Arts Center. Congratulations to them on their upcoming new space. It will be a community asset.

However, the LAC is only one of many arts organizations in this community, and it would be a shame if that building were to be lost as an art space, both as a gallery and performance area. I would like to appeal to the City of Lawrence to give precedence to arts organizations for the use of that building.

Margaret Rose,
